Consumer product recalls

Recent Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls — furniture, appliances, tools, toys, nursery products, batteries, and anything else sold for home use.

Stop using the product immediately, even if yours seems fine. CPSC recalls are issued after a hazard is confirmed, often from a small number of incidents.

Read the remedy line on the notice — it will say refund, replacement, or free repair kit. Companies must honor it whether or not you have a receipt.

Do not resell or donate a recalled item. Reselling recalled products is illegal, and thrift shops are a common way they keep circulating.

For nursery and toy recalls, check secondhand and hand-me-down gear too. That is where recalled cribs, sleepers, and bassinets usually turn up.

Report a product that hurt someone at SaferProducts.gov. Those reports are the main trigger for new investigations.
